This WebSDR is a fully private initiative, funded 100% by me. It was quite expensive – several hundred meters of feeders (not yet fully utilized), rtl-sdr v3 receivers, server, network equipment, UPS, etc. There are also monthly maintenance costs, such as increasing electricity prices or internet connection fees (fiber optic link with public IP class and SLA). To reduce maintenance costs somewhat, Adsense ads have been placed on the website some time ago.
Unfortunately, the revenues generated from them are only enough to cover a small part of the monthly maintenance costs. If you like this WebSDR and would like to help, please consider supporting it. Even the smallest, but monthly contribution can make a big difference in maintaining and, most importantly, further developing this project.

To be clear – I don’t intend to write here that I will close the project because of the cost – I won’t do that. Running this WebSDR is my hobby and I enjoy doing it. There is a large group of regulars – from very many countries. For this one year of operation, this WebSDR has received quite a lot more than 30 thousand unique visitors (beginning completely from scratch). This is very satisfying! I think that next year at the same time the results for 2023 can be much, much better! 🙂 When it comes to finances – the situation is clear, I think. Such a project is not cheap and also keeping it running at full capacity and without failures also consumes a lot of money and time. Ideally would be a situation, where WebSDR would be able to fully support itself from your donations – without Adsense type ads. How fast this WebSDR will develop and whether it will be stuffed with ads – that’s entirely up to you! 🙂

Short term TODO:

  • new batteries for UPS
  • individual login page to Ads-free WebSDR (for supporters only)
  • new bands – VLF, full 10m band coverage
  • layout improvements

Long term TODO:

  • switching antennas
